Programs & Projects

To fulfill our mission, Lake Martin Resource Association has embarked on many programs and projects for the betterment of Lake Martin.

Buoy Placement
This program is under the direction of the Boating Safety Committee (Rendell Clark, Chairman). The Alabama Marine Police have granted LMRA authority to place hazard markers when and where underwater hazards are located. LMRA currently maintains almost 400 buoys on Lake Martin.  Learn more >

$5,000 Reward Program
A total of up to $5,000.00 per incident shall be paid by Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA) to an individual or shared among individuals who provide information which leads to the arrest and conviction of an individual or individuals in cases of lakeside burglaries. Learn more >

Boater Safety
LMRA is involved with several on-going boater safety initiatives on Lake Martin, including Women on Lake Martin boating classes, Lights on the Water, docking lights awareness and involvement in the annual AquaPalooza festivities. Learn more >

Lakeside Address Sign Project
In 2008, LMRA began a project, which has the endorsement of the Alabama Marine Police and first responders, to enable every lake home owner to place a sign showing the 911 street name and number on the lake side of their property. Learn more >

Environmental Education
Two LMRA projects -- Report a Litterer and Renew Our Rivers -- have spread awareness across Lake Martin of the importance of protecting our lake. Whether creating mechanisms by which litterers can be reported and prosecuted, or gathering voluteers for hands-on clean up of the shoreline, LMRA is working to keep Lake Martin beautiful. Fish Habitat Enhancement
Annually, LMRA volunteers assist Alabama Power with their Fish Habitat Enhancement program, sinking recycled Christmas trees in various locations in Lake Martin. Learn more >

Lake Martin and its dam operations are affected by government in a number of ways. Our involvement in decisions impacting Lake Martin is crucial. In recent years, LMRA has been involved in the Lake Martin Economic Impact Study, the Martin Dam Relicensing application with Alabama Power and the FERC and intervening on behalf of property owners when flood plain concerns arose.
