PRESIDENT'S WELCOME LETTER

Welcome to the Lake Martin Resource Association website.  This and the following pages will explain to you what LMRA is all about.  Our organization has been working for Lake Martin since 1970 and has enjoyed the support of many individual and business members through the years.  Our membership exceeds 1200 members.  We have many programs and projects that all work toward making Lake Martin and the lake community a better place.  We believe that when you have seen our mission, our goals and how we are working for the lake community, you too will want to be a member.  We invite you to join LMRA by printing the membership form and sending it to us. WHAT IS THE MISSION OF LMRA?

Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA) is an active
member-supported, non-profit organization dedicated to
promoting, preserving and protecting Lake Martin and the adjacent areas. LMRA has been working to better the lakecommunity for over 38 years.

LAKE MARTIN ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDY

Realizing the need to determine the importance of
Lake Martin to the area, Lake Martin Resource
Association commissioned a study by Robert Charles
Lesser Co. to ascertain the economic impact of Lake
Martin to the surrounding cities and counties ant thus
the State of Alabama.  RCLCO is recognized as the
largest independent real estate advisory firm in the

HOW LMRA IS WORKING FOR THE COMMUNITY

We filed comments on the proposed Indian Creek Reservoir Project near Carroll County, Georgia, which could affect the Tallapoosa River. View Comments

We advocate stabilization of Summer and Winter lake levels and higher levels for longer time periods (the “shoulder” months).

We promote environmental education thru lake
clean-up and re-cycling efforts.

We purchase, place and maintain hazard buoys on Lake Martin.

We promote and offer education to improve boating safety.

We sponsor the $5,000 Reward and Crime Prevention Program for LMRA members for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone breaking and entering a member’s residence.

We sponsor a lakeside address sign project.

We publish periodic newsletters and hold an annual meeting to inform membership of lake related issues and LMRA activities.

We work with all appropriate agencies and organizations towards a better lake and lake community.

We have representation on the State of Alabama Water Commission.
