About Lake Martin Resource Association

Our Mission

Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA) is an active member-supported, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, preserving and protecting Lake Martin and the adjacent areas. LMRA has been working to better the lake community since its organization in 1970.

Our Goals
  • To improve the safety and security of the lake and lake homes
  • To promote a clean lake
  • To foster stable water conditions
  • To inform members and the public of the issues affecting the lake
  • To provide forums of public involvement for the lake’s best interests
  • To work with all appropriate agencies towards a better lake and lake community

How LMRA is working to accomplish our mission:

  • We make a strong effort toward stabilization of winter and summer lake levels
  • We are active participants with Alabama Power in the Martin Dam Relicensing project
  • We maintain representation on the State of Alabama Water Commission
  • We promote environmental education through lake clean up and re-cycling efforts
  • We purchase, place and maintain hazard buoys throughout the lake
  • We promote and offer education to improve boating safety
  • We sponsor a $5000 Reward and Crime Prevention Program for LMRA members
  • We sponsor a lakeside address sign project
  • We publish periodic newsletters to inform membership of lake related issues and LMRA activities.
  • We educate and assist lake properties owners on how to address the flood plain issue
