About Lake Martin Resource Association
Our Mission
Lake Martin Resource Association (LMRA) is an active member-supported, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, preserving and protecting Lake Martin and the adjacent areas. LMRA has been working to better the lake community since its organization in 1970.
Our Goals
- To improve the safety and security of the lake and lake homes
- To promote a clean lake
- To foster stable water conditions
- To inform members and the public of the issues affecting the lake
- To provide forums of public involvement for the lake’s best interests
- To work with all appropriate agencies towards a better lake and lake community
How LMRA is working to accomplish our mission:
- We make a strong effort toward stabilization of winter and summer lake levels
- We are active participants with Alabama Power in the Martin Dam Relicensing project
- We maintain representation on the State of Alabama Water Commission
- We promote environmental education through lake clean up and re-cycling efforts
- We purchase, place and maintain hazard buoys throughout the lake
- We promote and offer education to improve boating safety
- We sponsor a $5000 Reward and Crime Prevention Program for LMRA members
- We sponsor a lakeside address sign project
- We publish periodic newsletters to inform membership of lake related issues and LMRA activities.
- We educate and assist lake properties owners on how to address the flood plain issue
